Letter, 1849 April 2, St. Petersburg [to] Arthur Pendleton Bagby.

Lawyer, politician, Governor of Alabama, Minister to Russia, 1848-1849. Letter to his son relating pleasure on hearing that Arthur did well on his exams and was enjoying his situation at West Point. Bagby discusses the Russian military educational system and the recent political appointments made by the President of the United States.
